1969 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

Specified as a left-hand drive car, this is one of the earliest Series 2 DHC roadsters to leave the production line — car number 146 of the LHD DHC build sequence — making it a genuinely significant and early example of Jaguar’s most celebrated model.

The Series 2 represents the most refined expression of the original E-Type shape. Introduced in 1968, it brought with it a host of meaningful improvements over its predecessor: uprated braking, enhanced cooling, improved seating comfort, and the fully synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox — making it the most usable and touring-ready of the early E-Types. Beneath the long, iconic bonnet sits Jaguar’s legendary 4,235cc XK straight-six, producing 265bhp — an engine so celebrated that Enzo Ferrari himself reportedly called it the most beautiful car ever made.

This particular car returned to the UK in 2018, since then it has been extensively restored, including a repaint in its current striking British Racing Green. The interior has been retrimmed in tan leather and presents in very good condition throughout, accompanied by a matching tan tonneau. It sits on chrome wire wheels with period-correct tyres, and the black folding roof fits well with a clear rear screen — a car that genuinely invites use.

With its LHD configuration, fully synchromesh gearbox, and improved Series 2 mechanicals, this is the ideal E-Type for European touring — equally at home on a summer drive through the South of France as it is turning heads outside a London restaurant.
